In the midst of a 1.9l to 2.1l waterboxer swap. Things are going smoothly so far. I have decided to swap over all the 1.9l parts to the 2.1l engine. I swapped over the exhaust system, waterpump, thermostat housing, coolant lines and intake pipes from the 1.9l. I ran into a problem with the air box for the 1.9l though. It wouldn't fit properly on top of the engine so I put the 2.1l air distributor on the engine and the intake pipes attached perfectly. I figured, problem solved. Then I went to put the 1.9l throttle body on the air box. It is smaller in diameter and won't fit! So now I guess I am going to use the the 2.1l throttle body. I don't see any way to use the double throttle position switches from the old throttle body (no way to mount them), but I bet you could wire in the later model switch (one switch does both positions on the newer ones) into the system with no problem. I am also using the fuel injection system from the 1.9l. I hope to have this up and running tomorrow. Any input from other folks is always welcome, and I'll post a follow up when I get this puppy running.
