I have been wishing for a while that ATE would make their powerdisc rotor for the Vanagon and today I found out that they do but only for the 80-85 Vanagons (also work on some of the later buses from 75-80). These rotors have several grooves all the way around on both sides of the rotor (kind of looks like the symbol for the atom) that are supposed to allow gasses that are released when you apply the brakes, to have a place to escape. What I have been told is that normally these gasses make a barrier between the pad and the rotor, (that is why they drill rotors too) but this design is supposed to help allow the gases to escape and give you better braking. Also, because they aren't drilled there is not the possibility of the stress cracking that is associated with drilling, nor the warping problem that these sometimes have. Anyway, these rotors are $75 each from me. I'll put them on the website later today as PN 251407617APD or you can call in an order.
