As a general rule...don't use any teflon tape on gas line connections. One problem with it is the chance of bits of tape coming losse and blocking regulators, jets etc.

A much better, albeit messier, solution is 3M's pipe sealant compounds (501 is one of the varieties). Its is a white paste in a tube that smells a bit like Loctite and has the same anaerobic curing characteristic. It is messy ("damn, that white shit gets everywhere" is now a catch-phrase after a recent gas line installation at work).
