Subject: '84 westy with "MV" engine number, Is it a 2.1L???
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

I bought a 84 westy in Feb. I have been working on it every since...(but that's a good thing, isn't it??)

It has 204,000 on it, but in nice shape. There are a plethora of problems, but I am slowly checking them off the list. I was rounding up all of the numbers for my large file on "Moby," as I call it, and when I checked the engine block, the number starts with an MV (026340* is the rest of the number). Now all my checking shows this is a 2.1L from the digifant/86-91 years. Is this true?

Is there a way to tell what injection system I have by means of components?

Obviously the owners I bought it of of didn't know the vitals such as this issue, the last head job (yikes), or other owner histories aside from the people they bought it off of. From the supply of papers which accompanied the vanagon, it started in Georgia, then Colorado, and now seattle where I am the third owner in the Puget sound area.

Anyway, if anybody out there knows about engine ID, I would appreciate the info.

Also, this is my first day as a List "member", I have been using the old messages for reseaching my many, many issues I have had to contend with, but Now I am in a position to speak. So do I just reply to the messages in my inbox?? It seem like the response would only go back to the author and not onto the list (?). Any comments on that little detail is appreciated as well!
