 If I remember correctly, the ceramic thing is the resistor for the radiator
 fan (3 speeds with AC, 1st and 2nd controlled by the resistor, 3rd by the
 relais in fusebox).
 Vanagons without AC only have two fan speeds (normal and with relais).
