Volks-

Seems like a lot of us have common interests beyond VW's. The outdoors, fellowship, eccentric hobbies, etc. I recently happened across a website/mail list that I thought I'd tell you about (since it is Friday, and all).

A bunch of us grew up riding wee little trains around the park or near the zoo when we were kids. Seems like most towns of any size had one of these wee trains during the 1930's-70's. I grew up riding the 1948 park train outside the San Diego Zoo, then the park train in Wilson, NC.

Similar in many ways to our Vanagons, park trains are quirky, slow, mechanical, finicky, followed by fanatics, under-appreciated by the masses, loved by kids, (chiefly) out of production, beautiful in a Bauhaus/industrial kind of way, a joy for all ages, and becoming hard to find.

I've only been on the list for a few days. It is quiet compared to our VW party here. http://www.trainweb.org/parktrains/index.html is the website.

Just thought I'd share,
