Hi Tim,

Did you check spark at all 4 cylinders, or just the output lead from the coil? Maybe one plug wire has gone bad, and you are running on 3 cyl's.

If you are not getting spark on one of the cylinders, all that unburnt fuel goes into the converter and makes it much hotter than normal. Could also be a plugged converter as somebody else mentioned.
