When I bought my 80 Westy in Dec 99 I removed the bra and found a line of rsut all along where the leading edge was. 1-2 inches wide and across the entire front. This is in Arizona too. If you live in a climate that receives rain I would plan on removing it at least every 8 months and waxing or protecting the van nose paint job somehow.
