Subject: '88 Ring & Pinion Cost?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

As it turns out, my recently rebuilt trans does have a failed R&P - I haven't seen it yet, but I'm told there is some pitting on the pinion teeth which has resulting in scoring on the ring gear.

Although I'm not too happy about this, I am feeling much better about Russ at Autospiel - I think my concerns about him may have been unwarranted, as he has agreed to not charge any additional labour to replace the R&P, but I must pay the parts. I guess I will always wonder whether the first rebuild somehow caused the failure of the R&P, but at least I am not paying the labour twice.

The only price I've found for an R&P set is at the dealer for $604 CDN. Does this seems reasonable?
