Yep, the jap flat fours (or sixes) are without a doubt, a super
dependable,Un- labor intense engine.
I have a Honda Goldwing, that has big miles on it and has never left me
stranded.
However, I like stock stuff, and I really don't want to create a
Frankenstein monster.
Remember this;the Japs are imitators not innovators.( flat four,(VW)
Opposing twin (BMW) Vertical twin (BSA) V-Twin (Harley Davidson) just to
name a few.
The VW engine is a pain in the butt, but with reasonable care it will go
big miles, and I know I will find a way to crank some horses out of it
without sacrificing dependabilty.
