I just bought a set of 3.5" Infinity Research speakers from Crutchfield ($34.95/set) and popped the old speakers out of the stock housings, bent the mounting tabs in on the Infinity's and used a couple of drops of RTV to hold the speaker to the grill. All of the wires plugged back in, they even had the same size terminals as stock. They sound great, don't attract any attention and don't block the window cranks.
