Mine spits a little too. It spit before I fixed my
leak, and it spit the same amount after I replaced
every possible wear part up to and including the fuel
filter. It could have something to do with the
exhaust hose connecting so high on the filler pipe,
but that is just an uneducated guess. With those big
expansion tanks on each side, it probably doesn't
pressurize the system sufficiently to trigger the
auto-cutoff.
If you don't have gas pouring out the bottom of your
tank when you fill it up, I wouldn't worry too much
about a leak.
