Subject: Extra fueltank
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

While my engine and trans are out I might just take the opportunity to enlarge my 2WD Caravelle's fuel capacity. The front tank should be enlargable, and I'll see whether some other tank (I have a Split tank stored away, might fit) can be adapted, or whether I would need to get one fabricated. No hope of getting a used Syncro tank here in New Zealand!

Need to fit an extra fuelgauge and also, and a valve system set-up to switch between tanks, perhaps selected manually, and LEDs to indicate which tank is being drained.

I wonder what fuel capacity could be obtained by enlarging the front tank to the max, fitting the biggest possible rear tank and also underfloor outrigger tanks? Maybe smaller tanks either side of the shifter rod? But NOT in place of the spare, thanks. Vanagons may destroy Ovlovs, Mercedes, Peterbilts, Euclids and D15s etc in head-ons, but I still wouldn't want a gastank right in the very front, no thanks! And tanks inside the cabin would be illegal in any first & second-world country, I imagine.

Andrew
