You don't think an aftermarket company couldn't reproduce a fuel tank for less the $500? It's a fuel tank. These are sold all over the world, not just the tiny USA market. That's why they are cheap! There are some items I would not buy other than VW, Bosch, Manne, etc., but if you want to pay $500 for a fuel tank, go ahead. Some re-pros are better than stock--they've seen where they have failed and are designed better. 20 years of road-testing shows alot. Personally, I would take the original tank out, clean it, and seal it with a restoration coating that people have used for years where a new tank is not available. If the tank is severely rusted and/or dented, I'd go with the $150 tank and coat it for added protection. Jay '85 Westy |
