What's your opinion? How much more HP will the 5 produce? (We would like to be able to tow our 18' boat, but figure that to be unrealistic.) What would you figure a ballpark est on the total cost would be if I hired the work done? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Greg & Val 86.5 Camper Syncro WLE Spokane, WA >> Hi Greg. I'm at Chaplins Bellevue VW. I haven't personally installed a 5 cyl kit yet but Mark at Redmond Werkshop in Redmond, WA. has (down the street from Microsoft). They are installing a 5 cyl engine with CIS injection. I would personally install the 5 cyl 20V engine from the early 1990's Coupe Quattro or the 90 body 4 door. These engines are electronic fuel injection instead of mechanical, less parts needed and the stock fuel pump can probably be retained. Also it's a non turbo good for 162 HP. Call Cub or Mark at 425 885-7677. See ya, Michael 87 syncro 87 quattro |
