I agree with Thomas, who, coincidentally, agrees with Bulley.
My '87 Westfalia engine spins around 4000 rpm at an indicated 75 mph. This is
with 70-series tires (going forward, with tail wind). I just drove from Colorado
to San Francisco, a trip which is mostly desert, so the tach reading is etched
into my memory. At 75 mph, the tach needle is just at the high side edge of the
green "power" range (power being a relative term with Vanagons).
