Yes it is -- but taking the dash off is...er...nontrivial, particularly if the windshield has been leaking and rusting all the screws into their holes. That's why I was talking about electrical testing first. OTOH most things that could be wrong are going to mean taking it off anyway (can't think of any that won't, off hand).

I'll send you a previous msg detailing my (roughly worst-case) experience. If stuff isn't rusted it's mostly just a prime nuisance, and really should have two people for the actual lifting out and in -- otherwise you're likely to scratch the dashboard. Still, for the emotional health of the dear little ones, I'd consider sending them away for the day.
