'86 Syncro Doublecab with 28.9" tires: 4000 rpm = 81mph (calculated, 73mph shown on the speedo).

NOTE: I've calculated that my odometer is now precisely 91.8% lower reading with these tires, which suggests that 26.5" tires are "optimal" for the Vanagon (28.9" * 0.918 = 26.5").
