Need more detail: seems hard to believe any Michelin tire approved for a Vanagon (MX or Agilis) would be made in USA. Volvo experience is likely not relevant.

re: Buy only Michelins with the French country code molded in the tire.

I'd be surprised if Vanagon-spec Michelins are made in France. My MX are made in the UK and others could be made in Germany or Spain. Code? What code? Mine say "MADE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM" on the sidewall and I think I don't need no stinkin' code!

This so-called warning is BS.
