Sean; Your mechanics actions would seem to be a last line of attack. I first would have tried some simple things like unplug O2 sensor or replace the TEMPII sensor. Also check compression and make sure each plug is firing properly i.e. none of the plug wires are shorting. Unfortunately now you have to trouble shoot the original problem on top of the problems/maladjustments he inserted
