No, no, no!  This is a Very Good Sign!  Consider everything that is NOT wrong 
with your Vanagon, such as head leaks, the 3rd/4th synchro problem, etc.  If 
your biggest concern with your van is over a relatively minor vent cover, 
then it's running remarkably well.
