Karl and Herr Doctor

I am sorry to butt in here, but I will tell a little tale that I am sure both of you will have a good belly laugh over.

Scene. A mate of mine asked for a favour. He lives way outside Sydney about 500 miles north west to be exact ) He has a Mercedes and the water pump went kaput on him. Local MB Dealer wanted soemthing like1000 dolalrs Aust ) for it. Anyway he let his fingers do the walking ( old Aussie saying ) and rang a number of M.B. Dealers in Sydney and got a price that was about 50% less that the Bush price. Would I go and get it for him ??? Sure no worries says I !!!!!!

Got the part, came in a wonderful Mercedes box all wrapped up and sent it to him.

When he opened it, I can imagine what he was thinking. This Mercedes part had been manufactured in Japan. YES JAPAN !!.

The point is Dont trust genuine parts to be made by the manufacturer even they sub contract out their parts to cheaper sources.

Oh by the way, the Sydney dealer was one of the more prominent dealers in the State and he assures me that when he questioned the telephone salesman it was guaranteed that the part was a genuine one. Go figure.
