I had a Technical manual for the TEAC FD-55F/G drive I was describing
earlier.  It was 8 1/2 x 11, and just under half an inch thick,
typeset.  Aside from power requirements and such, there was hardly a number
in the whole thing.  Instead, it was full of statements like:

"We have taken great care and invested great effort in the casting of the
aluminum baseplate so that it will work perfectly."

"By extreme care in machining, the spindle runout has been controlled so as
to give no operational concern."

"The motor has been rigorously designed and built so as to have sufficient
torque for excellent operation under all conditions."

"A superior design has been employed to ensure that under no circumstances
will the drive puck crunch the disk center while loading."

Etc, etc, etc for half an inch.  All absolutely true.
