Well, I did it finally!

I found on "Joel Walker's Own Page" reference to flipping the fresh air outlets in the dash of his Vanagon. By default, the outlets require the driver or passenger to flip the knob thingy down for fresh air. So I thought I'd give it a try since I agree with his "preconceived notions of how-a-car-should-be built...".

Last night, it took me 30 minutes to do both outlets of the Vanagon. I had to remove and disconnect the driver console and remove the glove compartment to access the four tabs which hold in place the outlets. After pushing the tabs down and carefully pushing the outlets out, I flipped them the other direction, pushed them back into the vent tubing and popped them back into place.

So now the driver side and passenger outlets are set so if fresh air is wanted, flip the knob thingy UP (just like turning on a light).
