Dear Daniel,

It is repairable -- I've done it for my 87 Syncro and it has worked for two
years now. Had to replace a broken guide with a "home grown" bolt and nut
combo -- but it works as well as new.

Take your time, memorize where everything goes. You will need a helper to
pull the tension on the cable while you bolt it all back together. Biggest
pain was getting it out/putting it back into the door!

on the passenger side quite working and is stuck about three inches from
closing.  I took the door panel off and found that the cable from the
mechanism box to the middle of the bottom of the window is out of place.
It seems like the mechanism wound up too much cable and pulled the plastic
guide out of the track.  Can I repair this or should I start looking for
replacement parts?
