Subject: Final Solution to Running Hot Problem
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Well today I was still having that running 3/4s hot problem with my 2.1l to 1.9l conversion. I pulled out my digitool for digijet and at full hot it was saying the temp II sender was giving me .05 volts. So I thought this was too low (perhaps it is just a bad temp sender since I did scavenge it out of an old thermostat housing) and that the van was still running hot. So I decided to swap out the radiator with a known good one from my old '85. Did that, still 3/4s hot. Finally I tried something that some of you folks suggested, I swapped in a new voltage regulator for the instrument cluster. That was it. Now it runs around 1/2 hot and as soon as the needle gets to the right of the led the fan comes on. So I wasn't having an overheat condition after all, just a false indication problem.

Oh well, at least it is finally fixed. I did see some good things happen like I discovered the alternator was dead and I swapped in a rebuilt one (tried to use the alternator from the syncro, but it was worn out). So if I can get the A/C charged up (pretty easy), she should be ready for the road. Thanks for all the help.
