Dave-

You'ld be surprised at how nicely the tank and valves will clean up. Our 1982 was pretty crummy. Rusty . Ugly. Take the whole tank with valves intact to a propane dealer (like Suburban Propane) and have them remove the valves. Take them to a machine shop and have them cleaned/brushed.

Use the plugs, and have the tank blasted, tested by the propane place, then have them weld on a new data plate. Then re-coat. My whole tank re-do deal was less than $100, including a new regulator.

Looks like I'm gonna get another tank for Vinnie. The present tank is missing the data plate and the valves are all corroded, etc, etc. Anyone with a used one in good condition? Cheers, Dave C.
