  They all say it, I just went and looked at my Audi 90 in my  garage, it
says  made in France and made in USA  on one.
 Most of the Contis I have seen said Made in Austria, but I will admit they
were mostly  truck tires.
  No matter where it is made it is made in the same equipment with the same
rubber recipe.   I wondered about this same thing years ago, I  tracked the
tires first made in Carolina by Michelin on the  fleet trucks  and trailers
under my charge, there is not difference in the truck tires.     The
uniroyal/goodrich tires now made under Michelins umbrella are not terrible
tires. They do offer cheaper ones, and  you do get what you pay for.
 Do you think the General tires made under the Continental umbrella are no
good too?
 Some of them are pretty much the same thing, but you must get the best
Generals to get a good one.
  It is not about manufacture  location. It is  the design and rubber
recipe.

Must advise, when I heard of the US bait and switch routine from Michelin I
went over those tires with a fine tooth comb and there was no "Made in ___"
anywhere on them. The code was the only way to know. Now that you mention
it, I do recall seeing "Made in France" on Michelins before. Just like I've
never seen a Continental without "Made in Germany" clearly ledgible.
