The driving danger is not from the open flame but from the open valve on the tank. The fridge flame is in a remote location unlikely to be reached by anything flammable. An accident that disrupts the integrity of the gas line could result in a fire. If the tank regulator was involved, the result might be spectacular. This seems unlikely but it is a non zero risk. I tend not to do it.
