If you git hit that hard, it will not matter if the valve is on or not; it will bust off. The metal to metal of the collision creakes the spark; that is my point. The flame inside, and the orientation of the valves is irrelevant. Also, i think the engineers did a great job by putting a heavy piece of steel under the tank valves, for that makes the event of breaking a valve even less likely.
