I have an 87 Syncro, 170K, No engine work at all. Trans broke 4th twice though. I have a customer who recently hitt 200K with no engine work yet. He uses green Prestone Antifreeze. I guess some are lucky.

Volks, I'm curious.... How many miles on your vans -specifically how many miles on the existing engine (no rebuilds to exceed head reseal/replacement).

I've got 185K miles on my van with the original block. I'm on my third set of heads and am now resealing the current heads after a cylinder o-ring (whatchamacallit) failed (thankfully a machine shop found the heads to be straight and crack free). I had the tranny rebuilt at 125K miles.

I've been told by a few knowledgeable folks that 200K is about all I can expect from the bottom end of the engine (rods, bearings, etc.)

What do you think... How many miles on yours?
