Subject: Oilpressure LEDs
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

For those who are fitting Subaru or other engines to vans with 85+ instruments, the high-pressure oilpressure LED would be a good thing to keep working. Has anybody done this and knows what is needed to set it up? (I'm still unsure as to what's what with stock Vanagons, as mine hasn't had a VW engine since the previous owner). I understand, perhaps wrongly, that there are 2 LEDs; one for idle-speed oilpressure, the other (coupled with a buzzer) for higher rpm? The PCB mentioned by Gary McEachern on 31-10-99, posting 110723, is part of this high-pressure circuit?

I want to set the Subaru SVX engine up so that the VW's LED/buzzer is functional (I lost a 36hp once when the oil level dropped, and didn't see the dim warning light). Will it suffice if I put a T in the Subaru oil sensor hole and fit the low-pressure sensor at one end of the T, the VW high-pressure sensor at the other end?

My instrument cluster from The Bus Depot hasn't arrived yet, so I haven't had the chance to eyeball it.

Andrew
