Our Westfalia had the windows tinted by the po, and despite being a bit too dark for me in terms of gazing about, I like them for another reason. On a recent outing my 3 year old slept until 8:30 am -- this a kid who gets up every day at 6:30 am. Paranoid parent, I even snuck back in once to make sure she was breathing, and thus comforted went back to sipping coffee in the quiet morning air. Anyway, my point is that with the tinting and the curtains drawn, the lower bed area is as dark as a tomb. Very nice. I slept in the lower bunk with the top down the night before and it really was like being in a root cellar, except it didn't smell, wasn't damp, and was very comfortable. I agree with Karl though, I don't put much merit in the cooling effects of the tinting. I think the dark tint soaks up/retains as much heat as would be transmitted through un-tinted windows. TJK -- |
