Also sounds like you might have no pressure in the lines Did you open any part of the brake lines? Replace the cylinders? Anything that would de-pressurize it? You might just need to bleed the brakes. Don't press the pedal all the way to the floor. This will blow the seals in the brake master cylinder, and you will need to re-build it.
