Hi Volks: This is kind of weird: I was replacing the side air-vent grill, you know - the ones that cover the intakes that the air-cooled Westy's used for engine cooling..... each grill has two fingers that go into holes into the body flange, and the holes have grommets to snug up the fingers... anyhow, when I was installing the DS grill, the fingers pushed the grommets out, and down the shaft they went! I kid you not! Is there a known replacement for these? I am concerned about using anything but German grommets, - but if anyone has performance data on another type, I might consider using them, as long as they aren't plastic. That would be too radical a departure for me - against the DM, ya know! Marshall Ruskin 84 Westy "Iron Igloo" Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Founding Member of "Vanagon's Anonymous" |
