Returning to the list after a few years absence... We have had two Vanagons in the past. Absolutely loved everything about them except the reliability - heads, computer, power steering rack, etc. We are about to take the plunge again with a beautiful '91 Carat edition. This time I *will* be doing an engine conversion. Leaning toward the bulletproof inline 4 cyl. VW engine. I know that there are also small block chevy, Porsche, and Subaru conversions out there. What is the current consensus out there for the best bang for the buck? Appreciate any feedback. BTW, will be selling the Vanagon's current running engine after the swap. Drive it before you buy it. What is a fair price? Anyone interested? Dan Kinsey, Missouri now, soon to be from Florida |
