Subject: Complete G50 conversion kit
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

I have found a German outfit which has offered me, as far as I can tell, a complete G50 conversion kit, including transmission, for DM4500 (about $2250US) plus German tax (probably not applicable on an export) and p&p.

Does this sound good or what? I'm having second thoughts (again) about using the 915.

Can anyone confirm what a New Zealand Porsche workshop told me: that all G50 transmissions were manufactured with long bellhousings, and that all those with short bellhousings have been modified for retrofitting into older 911s (mainly in the US)? Or is this incorrect? Did Porsche actually make short-bellhousing G50s that can be used without modification in Vanagons etc?

Andrew
