Subject:      Value of Syncro '86 Wolfsburg Westy and '87 Van?

Was parking my van while driving through a small town and parked to get a
quick bite at fast food.  A lady stopped and asked about my van.  She said
her husband and her had two vans they had just replaced with a larger RV.  I
was not really interested in buying ... have had mine for sale, sort of ....
til she said the Westy was a synchro.  Got her number and called after I
finished my business.  Sure enough two slightly worse for wear  with some
seam rust vans were parked at the dead end of a rural road next to a shed.

The Westy is a Wolfburg ... more than a weekender, 6 passenger, 142,000
miles, needs exhaust, front seats,pop top seals and a front outer cv, looks
like needs upper ball joints.  He put in a 'new' used transmission last
year.  I am taking his word at this point all is well mechanically
otherwise.  The passenger van is in worse shape body-wise but less worn
inside.  Asked him what he was thinking about price wise.  Said about 4,000
dollars each.

I know Synchro's in great shape go for a bit.  What about almost alright
project vans? What about "Wolfsburg Editions"? I am taking his word that all
is well mechanically with the motors.

Well list,  do I buy these and try to make a profit?  Do I ask a finders fee
from someone or is that bad manners?  What would be a fair price for one or
both?
