I can attest to that. This is an area where the Adventurewagen really
shines. The area over the engine compartment lid is covered by the stock
Vanagon carpet and on top of that is 6½" of storage space, which is always
filled. The remaining 12" above that contains the folded foam mattress and
padded bed lid cover. If it weren't for the ability to move forwards and
backwards I would have never guessed it had an engine. <g>
