I'm the new guy who asked about Vredesteins. Someone (Rich) asked where you can get them. I talked to Discount Tire (www.discounttire.com) here in the Denver area. They are not listed on the Discount Tire Web page. I apparently lucked into someone at the local store who had actually dealt with Vanagons and Westies and understood the need for reinforced sidewalls and load ratings (they even new about alternate sizes, not my typical experience). They said they would have to order the Vreds.

The Vredestein tyre is called a Transport ("The iron tough foundation for Transporters!" says the Vredestein Webpage [www.vredestein.com]) and comes in 2 models: Transport Steel and Transport Snow. The Steel is an 8 ply rated tyre. One photo looks like the tyre is on a late model vanagon stock rim. The tread pattern on the snow tyre is identical to the ones in the past that I remember fondly.

Any further comments/opinions/suggestions welcome.
