The vast majority of us have never and likely will never have an occasion to actually use a fire extinguisher. A VERY small percentage of us, however, either have had or will have an occasion to actually use one. While it is easy for the average human to separate those who have from those who have not the separation of those who will from those who will not is problematic in that it requires an omniscience generally thought reserved only to God. This being the case those who look at the odds and choose not to carry fire extinguishers nevertheless realize that they could be wrong; that there may indeed come a day when they REALLY need the fire extinguisher they have chosen not to carry. With this realization the non-carriers usually have sense enough to realize that ridiculing those who do carry fire extinguishers "just in case" is an act of supreme idiocy serving only to make the ridiculer look like a damn fool. As with fire extinguishers, so with guns. If you choose to never carry a gun you will likely "get away with it" as the odds are greatly in your favor with crime just as they are with fire but I hope you are not so foolish as to believe you are somehow exempt from the real world and that "it" could never happen to you. If you do believe this then you are hopeless and no amount of reason will prevail against your foolishness. But if you do realize that there is a real world out there where "it" happens fairly regularly would you please explain your grounds for ridiculing those who choose to carry "just in case"?
