Subject: Rust prevention behind Westy appliances
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hello Volks

I just had the passenger side rocker panel and lower side panel replaced on my '90 Westy due to rust through. The body shop heavily undercoated the bottom of panel. I believe condensation on the inside of the panel causes this rust problem. I am trying to decide how to more effectively insulate the panel to stop the problem from reoccurring. I've seen it mentioned that the insulation at the bottom of the panel holds water and tends to promote the rust. I suspect that without the insulation in this area more condensation would actually occur.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to effectively deal with this issue. I plan to keep this vehicle for many years to come and do not wish to deal with this problem again.

Gary
