*ahem* 8-)

Here's an excerpt from my posting of a few weeks ago:

----------------------------------------------------------------------- The VW Rabbit rear wiper motors are the same as Vanagon ones with two interesting differences: the Rabbit motor is stamped VW of Canada, while the Vanagon part is German. The other item of note is that the rabbit gearbox is 'reverse' to the Vanagon!

The DPO of my '88 Wolfie let her kids swing out of the rear wiper. The main gear wheel ended up getting 'eaten' by the worm drive & it seized up. This meant that the motor never parked and ended up burning out (and setting fire to the rear panel and wiring!!). The dealer was looking for $$$ for a new motor & box. By chance, I got up a rabbit motor from Pick'n'Pull for $5, transferred over the motor, worm drive and gear wheel & re-greased it. The whole lot transferred over nicely to the Vanagon housing & bolted back in. Yay - works perfectly!! 8-) -----------------------------------------------------------------------

One thing I might add is that I vaguely remember drilling out the gearbox rivets and replacing them with self-tappers ...... anyways - it all works!
