This relates back to the mission-critical and A-priority topic of Westfalia cabinet moldings. I can now safely vouch for the fact that heating the moldings in the oven and stretching them really works! Most, if not all, of the kinks disappear, and the moldings end up slightly longer than necessary, which makes them ideal for reuse by simply trimming off the excess. I have so far done two plastic strips from the underside of the AC housing and one of the plastic/rubber strips that edge the stove housing. This represents the two kinds of molding found in the cabinets, both the plastic-only and the combination plastic/rubber. In both cases, the moldings became pliable and I was able to stretch them easily to slightly longer than they were before heating. Then, I reinstalled them and trimmed off any excess. What seems to work well is heating them up so they are soft, stretching them, and then cooling them under water so that they "remember" their new length. I set my oven to 300 deg and simply laid the moldings on the rack for a couple of minutes. I plan to do the rest of the shrunken moldings soon, and will report back on my success. Thanks to all who suggested this remedy! ...Dan
