Hi Bill: I just did said repair, and it turned out beautifully - cannot tell it was done at all, plus, it was fun! Yes, you can reuse the rubber, no problem. I got a local shop to remove and replace the window - as I had nobody to demonstrate the "litle tricks" required for the job. I recommend for your first time you do the same. I sanded all the rust out - down to bare shiney metal. I then used a two part fibreglass filler, it's very strong and tight. Gotta do at least two overlapping coats, with a lot of sanding to make it perfect. The whole hatch was sprayed with a high-fill 2-part primer, then covered with a dusting of black paint to use as a guide coat for sanding. ...then wet sanded with something like 600 grit wet-dry sandpaper. Use a sanding block - you need a flat surface for the sandpaper. When you see spots of black paint after the sanding, you know that you have a low spot in the primer, and that area needs more work. Then, the whole hatch was painted with two coats of Dupont paint. (Joel Walker says I should have done more coats - he's right) Hope this helps, Marshall Ruskin 84 Westy >I need to repair 2 rust spots that are under the rubber on my rear window. >Can I reuse the rubber?
