You could get a mild cam for it - say a 266 degree an adjustable cam sprocket will get a *little* more bottom end grunt for you. The best things you can do to these engines is to make the exhaust better. The 4-2-1 manifold is doing this for you. Unfortunatly with the cam you might get 105 to 110hp - the problem with the Cabriolet engine is it is 8.5:1 compression ratio. Getting a 10:1 compression ratio block will give you another 10% hp increase. We are running a 10:1 cr 1986 Jetta GLI engine in our 84 Westie and we find the power to be on par with a 2.1L wbx - nothing super fast, but it certainly gets us from point A to point B At 07:23 AM 20/05/2000 -0700, Robert Zezoff wrote: >The diesel is gone and a beautiful 92 cabriolet digifant motor with 102k is >in its place. >I have the diesel tranny and run 4200 rpm at 70 mph. >It has the good GL exhaust 4-2-1 style manifold and mandrel bent custom >downpipe into a dynomax muffler. >The van runs great but still have to downshift to third on long grades. > >The 92 cab digifant motor is rated at 92hp, I think due to the original >manifold. > >What can I do to increase power on this thing. > >Bobby >Folsom CA > > -- David Marshall - Volkswagen Enthusiast - Quesnel, BC, Canada -- -- 78 VW Rabbit, 80 VW Iltis, 80 VW Caddy, 84 VW Westfalia -- -- 85 VW Cabriolet, 87 Audi 5000 Quattro, 88 VW Syncro Double Cab -- -- David's Volkswagen Home Page http://www.volkswagen.org -- -- Fast Forward Autobahn Sport Tuning http://www.fastforward.ca -- -- david@volkswagen.org (pmail) or vanagon@volkswagen.org (list) -- |
