All I've heard about the upcoming platform is that VW is acutely aware that the fact that the EV has so many platform specific parts that the aim with the new platform is to have much more parts interchangeability to lower the price (hopefully dramatically). I think they were were talking 2002 for the new platform (?). Anyways, it was something I read at vwvortexforums.com It seems like VW is still committed to a van (because of it's importance in other markets as commercial vehicles, etc.) it's just a matter of making it cost-competitive with the N.A. mini vans. Now, it they'd bring the TDI Syncro Sharan here in Westfalia (or at least weekender) form.....
