Subject: More overheating...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

Hi,

I have owned my 87 Transporter/Vanagon for almost three weeks and yesterday I had the first alarming thing happening to me; the overheating indicator was blinking... Turns out that the gauge (orwhatyoucallit) is stuck somewhere in the middle and it only uses half the space it has (so I can't really tell how hot the engine is getting). Funny thing is that it went on after about 5 kliometres of driving from work where it had been parked all day. I stopped at a gas station and checked the coolant / antifreeze and it was actually quite low until I released the pressure and it filled up again. This morning, I filled it up, but there wasn't much to go in (without pressure on it, it seems fine). And just the day before, I drove a hundred kilometres on the freeway without a problem...

A couple of questions: - Is there a way to fix the temperature indicator, or tell the temperature otherwise? - Apart from the coolant, is there anything else that could be an obvious problem? The oil has just been changed (and it doesn't leak).

Greetings,

Peter.
