Get behind them and pinch the wings with pliers. (First, kill your rabbit..) Getting behind them is a nuisance. I've done it on the right side, at the expense of a severely scraped arm.

Prolly better to pop the balls out with a pushpin (the good sharp kind) and clean them that way.
