No go in 1st or 2nd is kinda rare but it may be a broken shift fork...It may feel as if its going into a gear but you are just feeling the linkage and internals of the shift selector assy...you can go under the car and try to manually move the lever on the side of the trans to select & verify that your linkage is ok or not. All the way in toward the trans is rev...all the way out (spring assisted) is 3rd & 4th...halfway in between is 1 & 2..put it in the 1 or 2 spot & try to drive away...tha twill verify the trans or linkage as the problem... and whatever you do...do not push the html lever after diagnosis....bad kharma...:) Daryl of AA Transaxle Duvall, WA.
